Helping Hands
Through the efforts of our Helping Hands service project, the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian provides basic necessities to area children throughout the school year. JA of Meridian partners with local school counselors to identify and address student needs including uniforms, eye exams and glasses, and shoes.
During the 2024-2025 school year, our Chapter fulfilled 341 requests from area school administrators, school counselors, and nurses. 57 children are also now better prepared for learning thanks to an eye exam and prescription eye glasses through our service.
During the 2023-2024 school year, our Chapter was fortunate to be able to fulfill 256 requests for school uniforms. Our goal is to help children have a more positive outlook by having proper clothing and shoes for the school environment.
During the 2022-2023 school year, we fulfilled over 300 requests, and we had the opportunity to help provide relief to our neighbors in Amory, Mississippi, after suffering the damage of a devastating tornado. We are honored to say we were able to donate 60 packs of baby wipes, 450 garbage bags, 100 tote bags, 75 pairs of work gloves, and over 75 newspaper bundles.
