Teacher Survival Kits
The Junior Auxiliary of Meridian is proud to announce the launch of its newest service project, Teacher Survival Kits, designed to provide much-needed classroom supplies to local educators. Through a generous in-kind donation from Premier Teacher Support Foundation, Inc., the chapter distributes essential materials including pens, pencils, highlighters, post-it notes, dry erase markers, erasers, and notebooks to teachers in Meridian Public School District and Lauderdale County School District.
The first distribution of Teacher Survival Kits took place March 26, 2025, as part of the chapter’s ongoing commitment to supporting the educational community. This one-day event saw Junior Auxiliary members sorting, packing, and delivering the kits directly to more than 40 middle school Math and ELA teachers in Meridian Public Schools, ensuring educators have the tools they need to support their students. This initiative aligns with the Junior Auxiliary’s mission of enhancing the well-being of children through community service. By alleviating the financial burden of purchasing classroom supplies, the project aims to create a positive ripple effect that benefits both educators and students. |
Educators in our community face the ongoing challenge of providing quality education with limited resources. Many teachers find themselves personally funding basic supplies for their classrooms, impacting their ability to focus on instruction. Through this project, we seek to address this gap by providing essential supplies that will help alleviate the financial burden on teachers and allow them to continue providing an enriching learning experience for their students. In recent surveys conducted with educators in both districts, the need for basic supplies was consistently identified as a critical issue.
As a human welfare project, the Teacher Survival Kits initiative is designed to directly benefit educators by enhancing their ability to teach and reducing the financial burden of purchasing classroom supplies. This project is a reflection of the Junior Auxiliary of Meridian’s mission to serve the community by improving resources and services for the welfare of educators. The support provided through this project will allow teachers to better meet the needs of their students and create a more effective learning environment.
